ATHENS, Ga. - Sophomore Gabrielle Trudeau narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in the 1-meter board competition to lead the Tennessee women's divers on day one of the Georgia Diving Invitational and Shootout on Sunday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Trudeau scored 249.50 in the springboard event to place 13th in the morning prelims, just missing the top-12 finish needed to qualify for the afternoon finals session.

Classmate Jodie McGroarty placed 25th (214.60), while freshman Skye Sanders finished 33rd (194.35) and junior Jill Pierce was 35th (189.25).

Florida's Kara Salamone won the 1-meter event with a finals score of 285.70.

The invitational continues Monday with the women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter competitions beginning with prelims at 11 a.m. The meet will conclude on Tuesday with one round of platform competition.

McGroarty could be a force on the 3-meter. The Sheffield, England, native was third at the 2009 SEC Championships in the event.
