GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Tennessee junior diver Gabrielle Trudeau was the top finisher for the Lady Vols in the 3-meter competition, but was unsuccessful in reaching the finals on day one of the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Friday afternoon at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

The Montreal, Canada, native tallied a 12th-place score of 285.20 to miss the finals by four spots.

The top eight divers from the prelims advanced to tonight's finals session at 6 p.m.

Also competing for the Orange and White were sophomore Skye Sanders and senior Jill Pierce, who finished 21st and 22nd, respectively.

Sanders registered a score of 228.35, while Pierce was right behind with a tally of 215.10.

Vennie Dantin of Auburn recorded the top qualifying score (346.65) heading into tonight's finals. Dantin's teammate, Anna Aguero, who had the best finish last season of those returning, currently sits in second.

The Lady Vol divers will continue tomorrow by competing on the 1-meter boards. Prelims are set for 11 a.m., with the finals will take place at 5 p.m.
