With the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships beginning this Wednesday, Lady Vol swimmers, senior Brittany Nauta and junior Alex Barsanti, wrote a poem to describe the team's preparation for the big meet.
SECs are drawing near,
We've learned to be confident, without any fear.
So now we're approaching this big meet,
With a few in particular we would like to defeat.
We'll be better than Georgia and Florida too,
Not to mention Auburn, Kentucky, and LSU
Our starts will be quick, showing our might,
Our dives will be perfect, each flip oh so tight.
There will be lots of races that come down to the finish,
Will we win? Of course, let all your doubts diminish.
All of this confidence didn't come overnight,
Each meet and each practice we've learned how to fight.
There's this one defining moment I do recall,
We did 400s to 50s, heck we did it all.
When our finishes weren't quite what Matt expected,
We did them over and over until they were corrected.
During all this hard work, something else had begun,
We danced, we sang, our team sure does have fun.
Time is winding down, but it's not over yet,
The Lady Vols will dominate, on that you can bet.
When we win it will be such bliss,
Come on Lady Vols, let's do this!
We've shown we're extraordinary after all,
Who are we? We're Lady Vols!
