BOYDs, Md. - Lady Vol Lauren LeRoy accumulated 191.30 points in the semifinals today from the one-meter board at the Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals. The junior placed 19th out of 26 of the nation's best divers. On Monday, LeRoy qualified for both the one- and three-meter semifinals after placing seventh and 12th, respectively.
"Lauren unfortunately struggled a little bit in her first ever semifinal appearance at a senior national diving championship," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "She seemed to be a little out of her comfort zone. She got off to a solid start then struggled on her second dive. Her second and fifth dives were a little off the mark.
"She was disappointed, but I feel like she can really do well in the three-meter event. I look forward to her diving with a vengeance on Friday."
Leroy will dive from the three-meter board on Friday starting at 3 p.m. at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md. The finals will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Oshkosh, Wis., product will be vying for a spot on one of the USA Diving National Teams which will compete in Grand Prix events in Italy, Spain and the United States, as well as this year's World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
