KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Former Lady Vol standout Christine Magnuson, rising senior Jenny Connolly and rising junior Kelsey Floyd all advanced to the final rounds of the 100 fly event at the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships on Tuesday at the Stanford University's Avery Aquatic Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
Magnuson finished in the top 10 in the prelims to advance to the `A' final. She claimed eighth in the finals after touching in at 59.39 seconds.
Connolly swam a prelim time of 59.75 seconds, while Floyd had a clocking of 59.81 seconds, qualifying both for the `B' final. Connolly won the `B' final in 59.02 seconds to claim 11th overall. Floyd swam a 14th-place time of 59.64 seconds.
Rising junior Brooke Watson also competed in the 100 fly and swam a time of 1:03.50.
The 400 free event saw rising sophomore Lindsay Gendron and Floyd compete. Gendron earned a spot in the `B' final and finished 20th with a time of 4:17.24. Floyd competed in the `C' final and placed 28th with a mark of 4:17.61.
On Wednesday Connolly, Floyd and Gendron will all be in action again Wednesday, along with rising sophomore Lauren Solernou. The meet runs through Saturday.
