Tennessee Swimmers Conclude Trip to National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the final day of the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, rising senior Christine Magnuson placed sixth in the “B” final of the 50m freestyle with a time of 26.03. Over the course of the five-day meet, the Tinley Park, Ill., native qualified for the finals session in four events. In the 100m fly on Thursday, Magnuson earned a spot on the national team which will compete at the Japan International Grand Prix, Aug. 21-24, in Chiba, Japan.

Tennessee rookie Morgan Farrell was 90th in the prelims of the 50m free after touching the wall in 27.17. Farrell is representing her hometown team of the Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club.

In the 200m IM, rising junior Carly Mathes placed 63rd with a time of 2:21.47, while 2007 Tennessee graduate Tiffany Clay was 112th in 2:27.59. Mathes and Clay both earned points for UT at the NCAA National Championships in March.
