KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior diver Lauren LeRoy earned Lady Vol Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 15-21, as voted on by the Lady Vol media relations staff. LeRoy won both diving events contested in the 185-111 win over Louisville on Friday.
Tennessee swept the diving events in just two dual meets last year. Vicky Linnell picked up both wins in the 2005 meet versus Louisville, while LeRoy and Linnell combined to shut out Florida on the boards in the last regular-season meet of the year.
In the three-meter event, LeRoy's 313.58 crushed the NCAA zone qualifying score and her previous personal-best of 279.22. The total goes down in Lady Vol history as the 12th-best score from the three-meter board.
LeRoy started the evening by claiming top-honors in the one-meter event. The Oshkosh, Wis., native blew away the competition with a scathing 263.25 total, 25 points ahead of the second-place Sarah Sandroni of Louisville (238.25).
LeRoy and the Lady Vols will be back in action on Friday Oct. 27, when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on SEC-foes South Carolina and No. 23 Kentucky.
