AUSTIN, Texas – In the preliminaries, senior Lauren LeRoy earned a fourth-place finish by amassing 265.40. The All-Southeastern Conference and All-American also placed fourth in the finals with a score of 277.00.
“Lauren dove against a tough field in both the prelims and finals,” head coach Dave Parrington said. “In the finals, she was a little bit off the mark, but had no major mishaps. She was just slightly off being sharp but, again, dove against a very high quality field and competed very well. That was one of the objects of this meet.”
Senior Vicky Linnell missed making the finals by a mere .55 points when she finished ninth with a score of 242.25. Junior Staley McCartney was 24th (207.75) and freshman Jill Pierce finished 30th (183.50).
“In the prelims, Vicky was ninth, just barely missed the finals, but also did an excellent job,” Parrington said. “Jill and Staley made some improvements on their performances, so I was pleased with that.”
“I am pleased with where we are right now,” Parrington said. “Overall it has been a very good experience for everyone.”
The platform diving event will begin at 12:30 p.m. Central tomorrow.
