Castellvi worked her way into the quarterfinals |

LAS VEGAS, Nev.
Senior Vilmarie Castellvi of the University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis team propelled her way to the quarterfinals of the Collegiate Tennis Kickoff in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday by virtue of her 6-0, 6-1, win over 85th-ranked Pauline Janus of Nevada-Las Vegas. Castellvi, the nation's No. 4-rated player and second-seeded contender in the tournament, received a bye in the first round. She is scheduled to face No. 38 Marlene Mejia of North Carolina tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. MT.
UT senior Crystal Cleveland was also in action, defeating Georgia's Evgenia Subbotina in a three-set war of attrition, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6. Cleveland came up short in her second round battle with No. 26 Zerene Reyes of Florida, 6-3, 6-1.
Big Orange freshman Melissa Schaub fell in her opening round contest in a closely contested match with Boglarka Berecz of Florida, 7-6, 6-4. The rookie, however, did find success in the doubles with Castellvi as the duo upended UNLV's Janus and Agnieszka Abram, 9-7. Castellvi and Schaub, ranked 22nd in the country, will square off with Agata Cioroch and Tina Hojnik of Georgia at 3 p.m. MT tomorrow.
