ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis team ended the tournament portion of its schedule at the Michigan Invitational on Monday afternoon at the UM Varsity Tennis Center.

Tennessee recorded three singles wins over No. 8 Michigan and took two of three doubles matches from No. 23 Washington.

In singles, UT was defeated at spots 1-4. Kata Szekely topped Rika Tatsuno at No. 5, while Millie Nichols was victorious at No. 6. Whitney Wofford battled back after losing the first set to record a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over Kari Wig at No. 7.

Against UW, Tennessee's Natalie Pluskota and Brynn Boren fell to Venise Chan and Denise Dy at No. 1, 8-4. Rosalía Alda and Nichols teamed up for their third victory of the weekend at No. 2 doubles. Alda and Nichols finished second overall in the doubles standings, behind Chan and Dy.

With its final tournament out of the way, Tennessee's focus now shifts to the dual-match season, which begins on Sunday for the Big Orange. UT will head to Champaign, Ill., to face No. 25-ranked Illinois.

The following weekend, the Lady Vols will host their first matches in the newly-renovated Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center as part of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. UT will face Ohio State at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30.
