Vols Shut Out by No. 4 Auburn, 4-0
March 10, 2017

AUBURN, Ala. -- No. 16 Tennessee fell on the road to fourth-ranked Auburn, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at Yarbrough Tennis Center.

"Auburn is No. 4 for a reason," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "They stay solid the whole time and fight as hard as we do. We are right there. The positives far outweigh the negatives. We continue to improve everyday. We just need to keep at it and keep cleaning up sloppy errors in practice. That will translate, and we will start coming out on top."

The Vols (13-4, 0-3 SEC) were unable to gain any momentum in the match, dropping the doubles point to the Tigers (18-1, 3-0 SEC) and the first three courts to finish in singles.

In doubles, Kim Kermet and Ariadna Riley fell to Caroline Turner and Georgie Axon, the 38th-ranked team in the country, 6-0. The duo of Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck lost, 6-2, to the No. 67 team of Andie Dikosavljevic and Alannah Griffin to give Auburn a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Ashley Bongart dropped her match on court 6 to Roos van der Zwaan, 6-1, 6-1. Hammond and senior Brittany Lindl were both edged on their courts by ranked opponents, giving Auburn the victory.

Tennessee is back on the road Sunday to face Alabama at 1 p.m. ET at Alabama Tennis Stadium, as the Vols continue to search for their first conference win.
