KNOXVILLE - In its first outdoor match at home this season, the University of Tennessee women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 7 Texas A&M at Barksdale Stadium Sunday.

With the loss, UT falls to 9-10 on the season and 3-6 in SEC play while Texas A&M improves to 14-4 in 2014 and 7-2 in conference play.

"It is a shame that this is our first outdoor match at home this season, but we had some spots that we really competed well, some that we didn't," said Co-Head Coach Mike Patrick. "Some of the freshman weren't quite prepared, had a little indoor feet and were a little slow in the beginning, but we finished up competitively at some spots today."

The Lady Vols fell behind 0-1 after dropping the doubles point with losses on courts two and three to Texas A&M. Ambika Pande and Laurence Guevremont, playing together for just the first time this season, dropped an 8-2 match to A&M while Brittany Lindl and Victoria Olivarez fell 8-3 on court three.

No. 75 Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams had a court one battle with 39th ranked Stefania Hristov and Cristina Stancu and were leading 6-5 when the doubles portion of the day was called.

The Aggies extended their lead to 3-0 when Lindl fell 6-0, 6-1 on court three to Stefania Hristov followed directly by a 6-3, 6-1 loss on court one as Henderson fell to 12th-ranked Cristina Stancu.

Tiffany Tavares was edged by No. 109 Rutuja Bhosale 6-2, 6-3 on court five as the match clinching point.

When the match ended, three singles matches in action were halted. Guevremont, who battled to a 7-6 first set win, earning a 7-2 tiebreak victory was tied at three in the second set. Olivarez who dropped the first set 2-6, came back for a 6-4 second set win and was up 2-0 in the third. And Ambika Pande who was edged in a first set tiebreak had a 2-1 lead in the second.

The Lady Vols return to action on Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m. when they face LSU in their final road trip of the season.
