ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 29 University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis squad (10-11, 6-5 Southeastern Conference) dropped its final contest of the regular season by a 6-1 score to No. 26 Georgia (12-8, 8-3 SEC) on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Vols will enter next week's SEC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, while Georgia claimed the fourth seed.

The Bulldogs quickly clinched the doubles point with a pair of 8-0 victories. At No. 3, the Lady Vol freshman pair of Samantha Orlin (Miami, Fla.) and Hayley Prendergast (Hingham, Mass.) fell to Kelley Hyndman and Sara Lett, while juniors Blakeley Griffith (Middleburg, Va.) and Victoria Jones (Tyne & Wear, U.K.) dropped their decision at No. 2 to the 54th-ranked duo of Darya Ivanov and Evgenia Subbotina.

Georgia completed the doubles sweep when senior Melissa Schaub (Lexington, Ohio) and sophomore Ghizela Schutte (Ninapark, South Africa) lost to Caroline Basu and Natalie Frazier, 8-4, at No. 1.

After UGA claimed its second team point with a Tennessee forfeit at No. 6 singles, Orlin dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Ivanov on the fifth court. When Jones fell at court two to No. 85 Basu, 6-3, 6-1, Georgia had its fourth point to clinch the match.

Next to finish up action was the No. 3 court, which saw Griffith drop a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Subbotina. In the No. 1 contest, Schaub was outscored by No. 18 Frazier, 7-5, 6-1.

The final match to finish saw Schutte win her third straight decision and ninth in her last 12 contests, topping Hyndman, 3-6, 6-4, (10-2).

With the fifth seed at the SEC Tournament, the Big Orange will take on 12th-seeded Auburn (6-16, 0-10 SEC entering today's match with No. 32 Alabama) at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The winner of that contest moves on to play the No. 4 seed, Georgia, at 10 a.m. on Friday. The semifinals and championship match will take place on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. All matches will occur at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.
