PEACHTREE CITY, Ga.
The second day of play at the adidas Tournament in Peachtree City, Ga., saw senior Vilmarie Castellvi of the University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis team advance to the finals of the A draw. Castellvi, the nation's top-ranked player this fall, will face Amanda Johnson of Duke for the title tomorrow at 9 a.m. She reached the finals by defeating Andrea Yung and Marine Piriou of Northwestern, both by 6-2, 6-1 counts.
In the consolation round of the A draw, junior Tammy Encina won both of her matches, upending Notre Dame's Sarah Connelly of Notre Dame, 6-2, 6-4, and then dispatching of freshman teammate Melissa Schaub, 7-6, 7-6. Encina will take on Katie Granson of Duke tomorrow at 8 a.m. in the semifinals.
Freshman Sabita Maharaj advanced to the quarterfinals of the A draw consolation by virtue of Northwestern's Jessica Rush withdrawing from their match with an injury. Maharaj fell in quarters to Julie Deroo of Duke, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Senior Crystal Cleveland reached the semis of the singles B draw, defeating Jamie Peisel of Northwestern, 6-7, 6-0, 6-0, but then dropped her match with Julia Smith of Duke, 6-0, 6-0.
In the consolation round of the B draw, sophomore Erin Cohn won her first match with Maggie Donohue of Notre Dame, 6-1, 6-3, but lost her contest with Katie McGaffigan of Wisconsin, 6-1, 6-1. UT Sophomores Claudia Farace and Ashley Robards withdrew from their matchups with Kelly Nelson of Notre Dame and Northwestern's Kristi Roemer because of injuries. Freshman Megan Kerr lost her match with Jennifer Smith of Duke, 6-4, 6-2, in the consolation round of the B draw as well.

Castellvi and Schaub reached the semifinals of the doubles A draw by defeating Lauren Connelly and Katie Cunha of Notre Dame, 8-3, before falling to Lindsay Dawas and Julie Rotondi of Florida, 8-5.
In the doubles B draw, Cleveland and Robards took care of business in their first match with Emily Neighbours and Kelly Nelson of Notre Dame, 8-2. In the semifinals the duo lost a hotly-contested match with Peisel and Roemer of Northwestern, 9-8. Cohn and Farace also reached the semis by defeating sisters Liz and Maggie Donohue of Notre Dame, 8-6, but lost to Alicia Salas and Kristina Stastny of the Fighting Irish in the next round, 8-1.
