Inclement weather forced all singles matches at the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville on the Vanderbilt University campus to be suspended on Saturday. All three rounds of doubles were completed and the remaining singles matches will be played tomorrow. Times for the matches have not been set.
In the first flight of doubles, junior Tammy Encina and freshman Sabita Maharaj advanced to the second round after a default by 10th-ranked Varnell and Kruse of Middle Tennessee State. Encina and Maharaj then fell to Kentucky's Witten and Roels, 8-6, and Wong and Morris of Georgia Tech, 8-6.
Sophomore Ashley Robards and freshman Melissa Schaub dropped their opening round matchup with Iqbal and Woods of Purdue, 8-5, but followed up that performance with two victories. First the duo upended Anson and Stafford of Kentucky, 8-6, and then defeated Vanderbilt's Schellhas and Scott, 8-3.
