WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely stayed perfect on day two of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals at the Basham Courts at the Schwartz Tennis Center on the campus of Purdue University Saturday.
The duo combined for another doubles victory with a 8-4 victory over Julie Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine of Louisville. They will take on Lyn Yee Choo and Anna Gerbassi of ETSU in the semifinals on Sunday.
Boren earned a 3-6, 6-2, 3-1 (ret.) victory over Georgina Sellyn of Vanderbilt to advance to the quarterfinals Saturday. She followed up her win with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Caitlin McGraw of Kentucky to create a spot in the quarterfinals for the third straight season.
After defeating her in doubles Saturday, Boren will face Rebecca Shine of Louisville Sunday at 2:45 p.m.
Szekely easily advanced from the round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nimisha Mohan of Miami (OH) and essentially earned a bye into the quarterfinals after her opponent, Ashleigh Antal of Vanderbilt, forfeited due to injury.
Szekely will face Courtney Colton of Vanderbilt in the quarterfinal round of the tournament Sunday at 11:15 a.m.
The pair will return to action Sunday in both doubles and singles play.
