MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Freshman University of Tennessee women's tennis player Eve Repic's singles run at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals came to an end on Monday afternoon after a tough three -set match with Georgina Sellyn of Vanderbilt.
"Great effort for a freshman reaching the semis of the regionals," said co-head coach Mike Patrick. "She played some mature tennis and she has a bright future. I am excited for her and what she has accomplished here this weekend and looking forward to her improving over the upcoming weeks and months."
Repic, the lone unseeded women's tennis player in the quarterfinal round of the tournament advanced on to the tournament semifinals with a 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4 win over Memphis' Caroline Wegner on her home courts.
In the semifinal round match, Repic earned a first set victory 6-3, and took a 2-1 second set lead before Sellyn came back to take the second set 6-4. In the third and deciding set, Sellyn had the 6-2 edge for the win.
In her journey to the semifinals, Repic upset three seeded players in No. 11 seed Sydney Campbell of Vandy (R2), No. 7 seed Rebecca Shine of Louisville (R3), and No. 15 seed Wegner (QF).
The Lady Vols will be back in action this weekend when they host the Tennessee Fall Invite from October 25-27 at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
