CINCINNATI - Tennessee senior Caitlin Whoriskey has reached yet another tournament final. This time, in singles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regionals in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Whoriskey, the tournament's No. 1 seed faced Megan Broderick from Kentucky in quarterfinal action. Broderick kept it close but Whoriskey still claimed the contest in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. After downing Broderick, Whoriskey had to wait around for match results between fellow Lady Vol, No. 8-seeded Kata Szekely and Vanderbilt's Catherine Newman, the third seed, to see who she would square off with in semifinal action. An all-UT semifinal round wasn't in the books, however, after Szekely fell in three heartbreaking sets in the quarterfinals.

Newman grabbed the first set quickly, 2-6, but Szekely battled back and with a 6-4 score, won set two. In the end, it was the Commodore who would prevail, winning the third set, 2-6, and moving into the semis to battle Whoriskey.

Avenging Szekely's loss, Whoriskey allowed Newman only four games in the entire contest, once again winning in two sets, 6-2, 6-2, and reaching the finals of the ITA Regionals. For the second-consecutive match, Whoriskey will go against a Vanderbilt team member, No. 2 Jackie Wu. This is the first time these two have faced each other this fall.

Also on Sunday, the No. 7 combo of junior Maria Sorbello and Szekely competed in the semifinals of the doubles main draw. The pair took on Vanderbilt's Wu and Chelsea Preeg. While this was the first time during the fall schedule the Tennessee tandem have played these two Commodores, senior Zsófia Zubor and partner junior Rosalía Alda have defeated them twice this season. Unfortunately, Sorbello and Szekely didn't have the same results, going down 3-8.

The main draw finals of singles, originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been moved to Monday morning due to time constraints.
