Tammy Encina fell to Duke's Amanda Johnson 6-3, 6-4 |

ANN ARBOR, Mich.
University of Tennessee senior Tammy Encina bowed out in the second round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships on Friday. Encina, tabbed No. 27 in the ITA preseason rankings, fell to seventh-seeded and ninth-ranked Amanda Johnson of Duke, 6-3, 6-4, in the tournament's round of 16.
In addition to Encina's competition at the indoor championships, six other Lady Vols are currently in action at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic in Peachtree City, Ga. Freshman Blakeley Griffith opened the tournament with a pair of wins in the "B" singles flight. Griffith, seeded fourth in the draw, took out Kentucky's Danielle Patrisko, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, in the round of 16, before cruising by Auburn's Isabel Rosenbrock, 6-2, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Also in "B" singles, junior Majen Immink fell to second-seeded Florencia Basile of Ole Miss in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-2, but bounced back with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kentucky's Laura Maurer in consolation play.
Junior Breanna Kray, meanwhile, posted a round of 16 win over Mississippi State's Yumi Ueda, 6-3, 6-3, in the "C" singles draw. In the quarterfinals, however, Kray fell to Auburn's Sarah Suitor, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
In the "D" singles flight, junior Claudia Farace posted a pair of first-day wins, breezing by Auburn's Erin Gray, 6-3, 6-0, in the round of 32, then ousting South Carolina's Audrey George, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, in the round of 16. Junior Erin Cohn also posted a win in the round of 32, taking out Arkansas' Monika Dybicz, 7-5, 7-5, before falling to Auburn's Ashley Cowart, 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 16.

In doubles play, both Lady Vol tandems entered in the "A" draw fell in their opening round matches but bounced back to advance to the semifinals of consolation play. The pairs of Griffith and Kray as well as Immink and sophomore Melissa Schaub will continue consolation play on Saturday. The duo of Cohn and Farace, entered in the "B" doubles flight, kicked off the tourney with a win over South Carolina's George and Walsh, but fell to Alabama's Koppelle and Muller in the quarterfinals.
The SEC Fall Coaches Classic will continue through Sunday. The weekend of action will mark the final competition of the fall for Tennessee. The Orange and White are scheduled to open their spring season with the Kickoff Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., over Jan. 16-18.
