- The Lady Vols begin the season ranked 23rd in the nation.
- Co-Head Coaches Mike Patrick and Sonia Hahn-Patrick begin their 15th season together leading the Lady Vols. They have compiled a 269-146 record.
- The Lady Vols begin the spring season with two athletes ranked in singles, and two athletes ranked in doubles play.
- Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely are ranked in the top-25 in singles with Boren coming in at No. 23 and Szekely notching the highest ranking of her career at No. 25.
- On the doubles side, Boren/Szekely combined for a No. 12 ranking, while sophomores Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams enjoy their first ranking of the 2012-13 season at No. 41.
THE COMPETITION
- The Lady Vols will face some stiff competition this weekend in No. 11 Virginia, No. 13 Northwestern and No. 34 Utah
- Tennessee and Nebraska will faceoff for the first time in a dual match at the ITA Kickoff.
- The Huskers are ranked No. 17 in the 2013 preseason poll, but does not have any singles or doubles players ranked entering the ITA Kickoff.
- Nebraska began its season on January 12 with a match against Eastern Michigan that they won handidly, 7-0. The Huskers followed up the sweep with a 6-1 victory over Creighton.
- Last season fell 4-2 in the second round of the NCAA Championship to Texas.
- The Lady Vols and Notre Dame have met on the court 23 times in the past with Tennessee holding a 13-10 lead in the series.
- The two teams have met just five times in the past on neutral grounds and Notre Dame has a 1-4 edge, with the last neutral site match coming in Tampa on March 19, 2011 a 5-2 loss for the Lady Vols.
- UT will head to South Bend for a meeting with Notre Dame the following weekend on a road trip that takes them first to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a meeting with Michigan and wraps up at Notre Dame on Sunday, Feb. 3.
- The Fighting Irish have one ranked singles player, No. 58 Britney Sanders, and two teams ranked in the Top-50 at No. 20 and No. 44 doubles.
- Notre Dame began its season last weekend with a 7-0 sweep at home against Bowling Green on Jan. 18 before heading out on the road to Illinois where they edged the Illini 4-3 on Jan. 20.
- Last year, Notre Dame fell 4-2 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Northwestern.
- Tennessee and Georgia Tech have met just three times in the past with UT holding a 2-1 advantage in the series.
- The last meeting between the two teams came in Madison, Wisc. on Feb. 13, 2010, a 4-3 win for the Lady Vols.
- Georgia Tech has one ranked singles player in No. 39 Elizabeth Kilborn and no doubles teams ranked.
- The Jackets opened up the 2013 season taking on Syracuse at their newly built Tennis Center on Jan. 17, a match they won 4-3. Tech also competed in the Michigan Invitational last weekend.
- The Yellow Jackets reached the Round of 16 last season at the NCAA Tournament falling to Cal 4-0 in Athens.
- The Lady Vols are beginnin the spring season on the road for the first time since the 2011 season.
- The Lady Vols boast a 25-11 record in season openers, but are just 9-6 on the road in the first match of the spring.
