KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After a perfect 3-0 record in doubles last week and a singles victory, Tennessee's Joanna Henderson has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the conference announced Wednesday.
Henderson's second honor comes after a week in which she extended her career-best doubles winning streak to six, while clinching the doubles point for Tennessee in all three matches.
The doubles point came down to her court against LSU and Arkansas, before using a pair of 8-6 wins to help the Lady Vols clinch the 1-0 lead for the 17th time in 19 matches.
The Aberdeen, Scotland, native also defeated Manon de Lanlay in singles for UTs final point against UNLV, despite being moved up the lineup due to injuries.
Henderson's accolade marks the sixth overall time a Lady Vol has earned SEC Freshman of the Week in 2012, as Sarah Toti won it the first three weeks of the season and Williams was honored March 7. Henderson's first award came a week later on March 14.
Tennessee is just the second school to have multiple student-athletes earn at least two SEC Freshman of the Week honors in the same season (Florida in 2010).
Henderson and the Lady Vols are on the road this weekend, with matches at Vanderbilt on Friday at 5 p.m. ET and Kentucky on Sunday at Noon ET.
