Ghizela Schutte

Ghizela Schutte

April 16, 2007

Junior Ghizela Schutte will be the author of this week's Lady Vol Tennis Diaries, as she will provide her thoughts on Saturday's match against No. 6 Georgia and the upcoming Southeastern Conference Tournament. The native of Cape Town, South Africa, returned from injury against the Bulldogs, playing doubles for the first time since Feb. 25. She currently has a singles record of 12-9 and a doubles mark of 13-10.

Today was the first day back after our two victories this past weekend in Mississippi. Practice was great and everybody worked hard after two days of rest. During the first part of practice we worked mostly on doubles. Our doubles has improved a ton and I think everyone is feeling confident about having a good start with the doubles matches this weekend against Georgia. I am really excited to be back on the court at last.

We are a different team compared to a few weeks ago when we lost to LSU. I am so glad and proud to be a part of this team that has improved so much over the last few weeks. I have had the opportunity to watch each of my teammates grow and improve. We have put in a lot of hard work and have taken valuable lessons from our victories and our losses, both as a team and as individuals. I think, most importantly, we have learned to play together as a team. We are definitely ready to take on the Bulldogs this weekend!
