Tennessee Lady Vol senior Natalie Pluskota has been named to the Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Community Service Team for the second consecutive year, becoming the second player in program history to be selected twice.
The SEC, which announced the 2012 squad Wednesday, sponsors Community Service Teams in all 20 sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight athletes from the SEC who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Serving as a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Pluskota is actively involved throughout the community, including events such as Boo at the Zoo, Feed the Need, Race for the Cure, Knox Kicks, Soles4Soles and more.
Pluskota has also been involved with Teams for Toys, in which the team adopted and sponsored an underprivileged child for Christmas, and Holiday Dinner, where she collected and delivered personal hygiene products to a local homeless shelter and served food.
Taking her own initiative, Pluskota engaged the women's tennis team in putting together a basket of food this past November and delivering it to a less fortunate family for Thanksgiving.
Ghizela Schutte was the first Lady Vol to be selected twice in 2007 and 2008. Pluskota is one of seven Tennessee players to be named to the team all-time.
Earlier this season, Pluskota became the eighth player in Tennessee history to reach 100 doubles wins. Pluskota has posted a 24-8 doubles record and a 12-10 mark in singles. She's currently won a season-high eight consecutive doubles matches.
Tennessee opens SEC Tournament play in Oxford, Miss., on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. The eighth-seeded Lady Vols will face No. 9 seed Auburn for the second time this season. UT was victorious, 4-3, on April 6.
