KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee women's tennis team climbed one spot in the Campbell/ITA Rankings, coming in at No. 13 in the most recent edition of the poll, released Tuesday.

The Lady Vols (14-7, 8-3 SEC) made the jump after defeating No. 15 Georgia, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Ga.

Senior Caitlin Whoriskey, who earlier in the day was named SEC Player of the Week, rose two spots to No. 9 in the ITA Women's Singles Rankings. Whoriskey defeated then-No. 12 Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia in three sets to secure Tennessee's 14th victory of the year on Saturday.

This marks the first time that the East Sandwich, Mass. native has been ranked in the top-10 since Feb. 18, when she was rated seventh in the nation.

Also rising in the singles poll was junior Maria Sorbello, who is jumped nine spots to No. 58 nationally. She claimed her sixth victory against a top-100 opponent on Saturday, defeating then-No. 38 Nadja Gilchrist of Georgia.

Sorbello and Whoriskey stayed put at No. 11 in the doubles poll after suffering their first defeat of the season on Saturday. The tandem of Rosalía Alda and Zsófia Zubor, which has recorded 25 victories this season, sits at No. 24 in the country.

Whoriskey and Natalie Pluskota continue to have a stronghold on the No. 1 doubles ranking, which they have held since Jan. 5. Pluskota has been out with an injury since Feb. 14.

The Big Orange will be back in action on Friday at 2 p.m. in the SEC Tournament. UT will face the winner Thursday's first round matchup between No. 6-seed Vanderbilt and No. 11-seed Mississippi State.
