CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio - Former Lady Vol Caitlin Whoriskey continued the torrid start to her professional career, bringing home the doubles title at the 2010 Ladies Cleveland Open, held at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club over the weekend.

This comes on the heels of her victory at the Mt. Pleasant Women's Pro Classic on June 19.

Whoriskey partnered with Sanaz Marand of North Carolina. In the first round, they topped the sister duo of Joelle and Stacia Kissell, 6-1, 6-4.

Two more victories in straight sets pushed Whoriskey and Marand to the finals, where they squared off against Emily Harman and Eleanor Peters of Syracuse. After falling behind, 4-1 in the opening frame, Whoriskey and Marand reeled off 11 straight games to take the match, 6-4, 6-0.

Whoriskey also reached the quarterfinals in singles, where she was bested by Piia Suomalainen of Finland.

Rising senior Maria Sorbello and incoming freshman Brynn Boren paired together and earned a spot in the main draw of the doubles field but fell in the first round, 6-1, 6-2 to Whitney Jones and Michaela Kissell.

Boren also played her way into the main draw of singles by winning three matches in the qualifying draw, including a three-set victory over former Utah Ute Elizabeth Ferris in the finals.

The Laguna Niguel, Calif., native then advanced to the round of 16 before falling, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (2) in a grueling, three-set match to Yuliana Lizarazo.

Sorbello competed in the qualifying draw, losing 6-4, 7-5 to Courtney Vernon in the second round.
