EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Incoming UT freshman Brynn Boren captured the doubles title at the 2010 Women's Hospital Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Wesselman Park Tennis Center.
Boren, a native of Laguna Niguel, Calif. was paired with fellow Californian Sabrina Santamaria. The duo breezed to the title, winning all four contests in straight sets.
In the finals, they topped Anastasia Kharchenko and Gabriela Paz, 6-3, 6-4.
Boren and Santamaria opened the tournament with an easy, 6-0, 6-1, win over Tania Alaby and Nicole Robinson. In the quarterfinals, they topped the No. 2-seeded team in the tournament, Ana Bezjak and Neda Kozic, 6-1, 6-1.
From there, Boren and Santamaria took down the LSU tandem of Megan Falcon and Whitney Wolf in the semifinals. Falcon was a three-time All-SEC first team selection before graduating in 2009, while Wolf recorded 23 doubles wins as a sophomore for the Tigers in 2009-10.
Boren also competed in the singles draw, where she was eliminated by Paz in the second round.
A five-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, Boren will join the Lady Vols this fall.
