KNOXVILLE - The University of Tennessee women's tennis team earned ITA All-Academic team honors and five Lady Vols were named ITA Scholar-Athletes following the 2012-13 season.
This marks the second consecutive season the Lady Vols earned the team honor. The five Lady Vols to earn Scholar-Athlete honors were the most in Tennessee history. Four Lady Vols earned the honor last season and again in 2007.
Freshman Mimi Fotopoulos, sophomores Jesse Grace and Caitlyn Williams, junior Kayla McMurry and senior Kata Szekely were all named ITA Scholar Athletes after keeping their respective grade point averages above 3.50.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
Grace, McMurry and Szekely each earned the honor for the second time in their Tennessee careers, while Fotopoulos and Williams were named scholar-athletes for the first time.
