KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lady Vol Annie Alexander turned in a nice showing over the weekend in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, snaring first-place honors in the discus throw and taking second in the shot put at the NAAA/Sagicor Championships at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Alexander, who redshirted the 2010 outdoor season at the University of Tennessee, returned home to Port-of-Spain to compete in her country's national championship meet. For the third straight season at that competition, she came away the winner in the discus (173-11/53.03m) and the runner-up in the shot (/54-0.50/16.47m).

As she did the past two occasions, Alexander's efforts have qualified her for the Central American and Caribbean Championships. That meet will take place July 17-Aug. 1 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
