Tyson Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- University of Tennessee senior Cleo Tyson has been named to the 12-member Southeastern Conference Track & Field Community Service Team, the league office announced Monday.

Tyson, a product of Huntsville, Texas, was honored by the SEC as UT’s track & field student-athlete who gives back to her college community through superior service efforts.  She has participated in the annual Second Harvest canned food drive in Knoxville and taken part in the Teams and Toys Wrapping Party.  Additionally, she has served as a Student-Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) Holiday Dinner peer mentor for UT’s VolScholar program.

On the track, Tyson has earned 12 All-America honors in sprint events and relays and played a key role in UT winning the school’s first-ever non-basketball NCAA women’s national team title when the Lady Vols claimed the 2005 NCAA Indoor National Championship.  Also, she aided UT to 2005 and 2007 SEC Indoor titles, was the 2005 SEC Outdoor 100m dash champion and owns school records in the 100m dash and 4x100m and 4x200m relays.
