With nine of 16 Lady Vols over the 3.0 mark, the Tennessee volleyball team finished the fall 2013 semester with a 3.25 team grade-point average, marking the 12th consecutive semester that the program has recorded a 3.0 or higher.
A total of 33 UT student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Fall 2013 semester, including recent graduate Whitney Heeres and freshman Bridgette Villano. The duo's perfect GPA brings the volleyball team's total to 11 perfect GPAs over the past six semesters.
In addition to Heeres and Villano, junior Nikki Brice, sophomore Lexi Dempsey, sophomore Ashlyn Sunseri and junior Carly Wishlow were all named to the Dean's List in their respective colleges. A total of 120 Tennessee student-athletes earned Dean's List distinctions.
Out of the Big Orange's 16 athletic programs, the volleyball team was one of 11 teams to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2013 semester. The average GPA for all UT student-athletes was 3.02, which represents the first time since sport-by-sport data has been recorded that the combined GPA for all student-athletes eclipsed the 3.00 threshold during the Fall semester. Including a 3.05 GPA in the Spring 2013 semester, this also marks the first time that UT student-athletes have posted a cumulative GPA above 3.00 in consecutive semesters.
