Kayla Jeter

Kayla Jeter

Aug. 16, 2011

With little more than a week before starting her final season, Tennessee senior Kayla Jeter was named to the Preseason All-SEC Team, the league office announced Tuesday.

Jeter, a two-time All-SEC recipient, was one of 10 volleyball student-athletes from seven schools to make the preseason list.

As a junior last year, she earned first-team All-SEC honors and picked up national honors as well. She was AVCA honorable mention All-America while establishing herself as one of the top offensive weapons in the SEC. The Solon, Ohio, native ranked second on the squad with 340 kills (2.98/set) and led UT with 19 solo blocks.

She is one of four returning starters to this year's roster, being joined by juniors DeeDee Harrison and Leslie Cikra and sophomore Kelsey Robinson, who was on the SEC All-Freshman Team last season. Sophomore libero Ellen Mullins is also back.

The 24th-ranked Lady Vols open the 2011 season against Ohio in the opening round of the Comcast Lady Vol Classic on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. Eastern at Thompson-Boling Arena.
