KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Eight days remain until Tennessee volleyball hits the court for the first game of the 2013 season. Junior Kalyn Helton continues the countdown in Wednesday's #TNVB Serves Up.
Helton, a Tennessee native, comes to UT with two years of collegiate playing experience. She spent the 2012 season at Lee University, appearing in 15 matches for the Flames. She helped the squad to a 30-11 record, including a 13-1 mark in conference play. Helton was named to the All-Conference Academic Team.
For her freshman campaign in 2011, the 6-foot-1 outside/rightside hitter appeared in all 33 matches at Harding University. She ranked second on the squad with 277 total kills with an average of 2.43 per set. Helton was honored as the Conference Freshman of the Year.
A graduate of Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., Helton broke the school record with 937 kills during her senior season. During her junior year, she led the squad to the state title with a program-best 56-10 record.
