KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Having already been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for her performances against Florida and South Carolina this past weekend, Lady Vol freshmen Tiffany Baker picked up another accolade on Tuesday, as she was tabbed the CVU.com National Player of the Week.
In the two weekend matches, Baker tallied double-doubles against the Gators and Gamecocks to lead the Lady Vols to a pair of victories. Against Florida, Baker registered a team-best 13 kills, hit .345, added 11 digs and sent four UF attacks back. In the South Carolina match, she hit a career-best .519, tallied a match-high 15 kills and added 12 digs to record her third double-double on the year.
For the weekend, the Carrolton, Texas, native averaged 4.00 kills per set, hit at a clip of .429 hitting, dug up 3.29 balls per set and had a total of six total blocks.
Baker is the third Lady Vol to earn the CVU.com honor, as Sarah Blum was the last to receive the accolade in 2005.
The Big Orange is slated to travel to Louisville, Ky., to take on the Cardinals on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., before returning home to host Mississippi State on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET.
