JACKSONVILLE STATE HEAD COACH RICK NOLD: "We know San Diego is a very good team. We knew that coming in, especially offensively. They have a very potent offense. We talked about the need for us to be aggressive. We had spurts, and we need to extend those a little bit. I think they were a little bit better today. I told the girls that it's as impressive of a season as I've ever been a part of, to stay as mentally focused for a long period of time as they have."
(on the season): "We had a small group, but they were as good as any team I've seen in terms of how they played together and worked together, both on and off the court. It's a season you don't want to end, everything goes so well for the whole year, but it happened and we're proud of what we've done."
ABBEY BREIT (on returning to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year): "It gives us a little more confidence. It's been my favorite season ever."
REBEKAH NICHOLS (on being back in the NCAAs): "We know how it was supposed to be. It's a little different that the conference tournament. It's been a very memorable season."
SAN DIEGO INTERIM HEAD COACH BRENT HILLIARD: "First of all, I'm proud of the way our team came out and handled themselves in a first-round match. I'm glad we came out on top. I think we have a good chance no matter who we play tomorrow night."
(on potential second-round opponents): "We're not familiar with either team or their conference this year. We've had success against teams from (the SEC and ACC), but I've not played either one. We played Arkansas and few ACC teams, such as North Carolina. But I don't know a whole lot about Tennessee or Duke other than what little video I have."
(On traveling cross-country to play early-round matches): "I think tonight was the biggest challenge. The sooner you play, the more apprehensive you are about how your team is going to respond. Once we get a practice and a match out of the way, we can settle down now, get a good night's sleep and get well-adjusted to what we're doing. We're more confident going into tomorrow. I think we'll settle in and play more our style of volleyball."
KRISTEN CARLSON (on competing in the NCAA Tournament): "It's exciting, being our last year, we couldn't ask for anything more."
CHRISTY DAWSON (on her experience in the NCAAs so far): "We feel very honored to be a part of this. We're going out our last year and making sure we do the best we can do."
