Located alongside the Tennessee River west of Alcoa Highway on the Cherokee campus, The Mack and Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility was designed in association with the Greg Norman Design Group. The facility will serve as the home for the Vol and Lady Vol Golf teams as well as the Turfgrass Research Center.
The facility is set to include three practice holes, the M.C. James Driving Range and pitching and putting areas. Rye grass has already been planted and the greens have been collared. Bermuda grass will be planted and the tee boxes will be sodded for the facility’s opening in fall 2010.
Phase II will begin as soon as funding is secured and will include the Blackburn-Furrow Clubhouse, featuring heated hitting bays for year-round practice, video training space and locker rooms for both the men's and women's teams.
