Dan Carlson joined the Tennessee Fund office in February of 2011 and currently serves as the Associate Director for Development. In this role his key responsibilities include day-to-day management of all Athletics Gift Processing, Tennessee Fund advertising and marketing campaigns, oversight of the Development Assistant and student volunteer program, and serves as the point person for daily walk-in customers who have questions regarding athletic campaigns and/or benefits.

Most recently, Carlson served as Academic Coordinator in the Thornton Athletic Student Life Center here at Tennessee coordinating Football, W.Tennis, M/W Track & Field, and Baseball academics at different points in his 8-year tenure. He also directed the RAC (Renewing Academic Commitment) Program, assisting former Vol and Lady Vol student-athletes to return and complete their degrees after their playing careers are over.

Carlson started his career at Tennessee from 1993-97 as a graduate assistant in the Football Recruiting Office and earned a Master's degrees in Sport Management and Higher Education Administration during that time. From there he served as Student Support Services Coordinator at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and later as Assistant Dean of Students at Georgia Tech. He returned to UT as Director of the Office of Disability Services for two years before reuniting with Athletics in 2003.

A native of Powell, Tenn., Carlson earned Bachelor's degrees in Sports Administration and Communications from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. While there he worked as a student assistant in the STU Athletic Department. He is married to the former Courtnay Baker of Medford, New Jersey.
