PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- The University of Tennessee men's tennis team was forced to sit through a rain delay for the second consecutive event at the adidas Invitational Friday.
Despite inclement weather for most of the day, two Tennessee players were able to take to the court. Wade Orr outdueled Arizona State's Chris Stewart 5-7, 7-5, 6-3. It was a solid outing for the junior, notching a win in his first action since injuring an ankle last month.
Fellow junior Simon Rea also saw action today. Rea was defeated by Duke's Steven Amritraj 7-6, 4-6, 6-2.
Six Vols, including Orr, Rea, Mark Dietrich, Mark Henderson, Rawl Martin and Vincent Perna are scheduled to compete in this weekend's event. All players were slated to play two matches on Friday, however steady rain postponed the majority of matches.
Tournament officials hope to play the remaining matches Friday evening, weather permitting. The delayed Friday results will be available at the conclusion of Saturday's action. Final Rounds are scheduled to take place Sunday.
