TENNIS VOLS STRUGGLE IN LAS VEGAS

The Tennessee men's tennis team advanced three players to the second round singles action Friday at UNLV but none were able to advance any further in a field crowded with ranked players.
Three of Tennessee's four players met ranked players in the first round. Kaden Hensel was able to upset No. 85 Joel Kielbowicz of UNLV, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. David Baxendine dropped his match to No. 107 Ruben Gonzales of Illinois, 6-3, 6-1. Kiril Tcherveniachki fell to No. 98 Jakub Cech of Fresno State, 6-4, 6-4.
Bobby Cameron, ranked No. 109, defeated Romain Massaro of UNLV, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the second round. There, he lost to Gonzales, 6-0, 6-1.
Hensel dropped his second round match to Felix Insaurralde of ETSU, 6-3, 6-2.
In Flight Two singles action, Rawl Martin defeated Fresno State's Sam Tadevosian, 6-2, 6-2. Martin then dropped his second round match to Enrique Olivares of ETSU, 6-2, 6-1.
Tennessee could not get a win in the doubles draw with both tandems dropping first round matches. Martin and Johnny Thornton lost to Burrows/Massaro of UNLV 9-8. Baxendine and Tcherveniachki fell to Irie/Modoc of Fresno State 8-3.
Cameron and Hensel received a first round bye in doubles and will play Saturday morning.
