VOLS RUN ENDS AT SOUTHERN INTERCOLLEGIATES

Athens, Ga. - The Tennessee men's tennis team struggled on Sunday with its only win coming from Kaden Hensel as the Volunteers finished their weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships.
Hensel defeated Juan Carlos Rabaza of Tennessee Tech 6-1, 7-6 in the Division I consolation singles bracket for his first victory of the season.
David Baxendine won his first two matches of the tournament to advance to the quarterfinals. Baxendine couldn't keep the streak alive though as he fell to South Carolina, Upstate's Predrag Burmazovic 6-1, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
Kiril Tcherveniachki also had advanced to the quarterfinals in Division II singles. The UT junior one the first set but dropped the next two to lost to Ole Miss's Christopher Rea 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Volunteers won all three of its doubles matches Friday but were unable to repeat the feat Sunday as all three teams failed to advance. Rawl Martin and Johnny Thornton lost to The Citadel's Derek Jose and Ananda Sawmynaden 8-6. The other two UT tandems forfeited their matches.
The Big Orange will be return to action when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the ITA Men's All-American Championships, Oct. 3-9.
