Volunteer State Challenge Schedule
The Tennessee men's tennis team returns to action this weekend when it hosts the first ever Volunteer State Challenge to be played on campus at the UT Outdoor Varsity Courts.
"We have another great opportunity this weekend to continue our successful fall season," head coach Chris Mahony said. "The inaugural Volunteer State Challenge will be an exciting event and we are proud to be hosting the other premier programs from the state of Tennessee on our campus. I'm looking for our guys to be very match tough and eager after a successful tournament in Tulsa last week."
The Vols have had a strong start to the fall season with three different players capturing singles titles and two different doubles teams winning titles. Junior Bobby Cameron is 7-2 season, including a 3-0 mark against ranked opponents. Sophomore Derek Stephens has the second most wins on the team with eight singles victories this fall. All nine Volunteers have a winning record so far this season.
ETSU, Memphis, Middle Tennessee and Vanderbilt will all join the Vols in the tournament. The challenge will be played in a hidden dual-match format.
Three of UT's players Kaden Hensel, Ben Rogers and Kiril Tcherveniachki are traveling to Mansfield, Texas, with assistant coach Chris Woodruff to play in a USTA Futures event.
