President's Letter
October 02, 2007 | General
Dear Letterman:
As your new ???T??? Club President I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the coming year. It will not be easy to fill Tim Irwin???s shoes, but I will make a sincere effort to do so. We have an excellent board to serve our membership. New members, Jeff Christensen and Jesse Turnbow, are joining Lynn Collins Canan, David Douglas, Guy Jackson, Lee Letsinger, Ron McCartney, Tony Parilla, Lisa Reagan, Pat Robinette, Mark Smith, and Chris Wampler on the Board. Bobby Gaylor is the President Elect and other officers are Vice Presidents Bobby Gratz, Mike Stratton, and Dennis Wolfe along with Hal Wantland, Secretary-Treasurer.
We are excited about the status of our University of Tennessee athletic programs, both men and women. We feel that many of the teams will be vying for championships during the coming year. Who could ask for more entertainment and excitement than last year???s men???s basketball team and women???s basketball and softball teams provided? We have expectations that the coming year will be just as exciting and entertaining, if not more so.
We are eagerly anticipating the construction of the new Lettermen???s ???T??? Club Room in Neyland Stadium. As of now we believe we will have this room available for the opening game of the 2008 season. All preliminary plans indicate this will be a state of the art facility and one that we all will be proud of. There is still much detail work and planning to be done before opening date. We will provide you with details as they become available.
As many of you know the current Lettermen???s ???T??? Club Room has been made into office space. We have shared this space with both men???s and women???s basketball personnel since last March. The room is not available for ???T??? Club functions at the present time and may not be at all during this football season. We have made arrangements to join Carmen Tegano???s tailgate party which is located in a tent behind the College of Education Building next to parking lot #9. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
We look for ward to seeing you at the many ???T??? Club events being planned for the coming year. The first is our Lettermen???s Fall Weekend, November 16th and 17th. As of this writing we are not sure of the location for the Friday evening dinner, but we are most excited to announce our speaker for the evening will be none other than the seven time national championship coach - Pat Head Summitt.
Please don't hesitate to E-Mail your questions or concerns regarding your "T" Club at t-club@utk.edu.
GO VOLS!!!!!
