KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee rowing team will take to the water for the final time this fall rowing season for a head to head scrimmage against the Blue Devils of Duke University on Saturday in Durham, North Carolina. Races against Duke will begin at 8:30 AM with pairs.
Last season, the Big Orange raced Duke University in a scrimmage in preparations for its spring competition season, the Lady Volunteers competed in fours racing in three pieces against Duke winning one of the three races, racing in eights Tennessee prevailed in one of the three pieces.
The Lady Vols had a very strong showing this fall season, last weekend Tennessee posted five top-10 finishes at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga. UT's best finish at the Head of the Hooch was in the women's open 8+ with a fourth place finish (16:26.4). Junior Harper Lucas led her shell to the fourth place finish, including Sarah McAuliffe, Katie King, Natalie Tavares, Emily Thomson, Victoria Florence, Kaitlyn Wallace, Chandler Frumin and Aja List.
At the Secret City Head Race in Oak Ridge, Tennessee won 10 medals, including three gold medals in the women's eight, women's single and women's pair.
To begin the fall racing season, the Lady Volunteers dominated at the Chattanooga Head Race bringing home nine medals.
