Primland Collegiate Invitational Preview
September 26, 2014 | Men's Golf
The inaugural Primland Collegiate Invitational is being held at the Highland Course at Primland. The course is ranked as one of the top public courses in America. It will play host to one of the top collegiate fields of the season.
The Primland Collegiate Invitational features five top-25 teams from the Golfweek.com Division 1 Poll, which was released on September 23rd.
Coach Jim Kelson will start sophomore Jack Smith, freshman Lorenzo Scalise, junior Michael Nagy, junior Chad Merzbacher, and sophomore Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara.
The Volunteers head into their third tournament of the 2014-15 season led by Smith, who was the team's highest finisher at the 18th Windon Memorial Classic. The sophomore posted a score of 4-over par, which was good enough for a tie for 23rd place at the Windon Memorial.
The format will consist of five-man teams, with the best four scores counting toward the daily total. Tennessee opens play Monday, alongside Virginia at 8:50 a.m. ET.
