November 19, 2015 | Soccer
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee sophomore Josie Jennings has been named to the SEC Community Service Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday morning.
The conference sponsors community service teams for all 21 league-sponsored sports. The SEC Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. This marks the 12th season in which the SEC has announced a team for women's soccer.
Jennings is the 11th UT player to be named to the SEC Community Service Team, joining the likes of Gabby Santorio, Tori Bailey, Alexis Owens, Caroline Capocaccia, Grace Cuenin, Molly Baird, Melissa Amado, Talia Wright, Kirby Zwickel and Keeley Dowwling.
Jennings has been one of the most active players on the team in terms of community service. Since arriving on campus she has volunteered her time at Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, Scoops for Paws and Purrs, Special Spaces, CLO Soccer Day and Thank-A-Thon. She has also helped with on campus events such as Vol-O-Ween, where student-athletes and staff dress up and pass out candy to children of employees at the university. She is also looking to volunteer at the East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
