KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee track & field and cross country program has signed six talented student-athletes in its fall early signing period. These six commits will join the UT track & field and cross country program in the 2016-17 academic school year.

"It is exciting to announce this impact class of recruits for the Tennessee track & field and cross country program," Tennessee director of track & field/cross country Beth Alford-Sullivan said. "The athletes that we have joining us are all young people who are committed to seeing UT and the Big Orange getting back to the top of podiums. Our success will be built on these great athletes and we are excited. Although this is just the first phase of our signing class with the early signing and short signing period in the fall, we look forward to adding more impact athletes as we move forward into spring signing."

Asst. Coach Abigi Id-Deen on Broadwater: "Brooklynn is going to come in with range for us in the 400m and the 400 hurdles. She has shown that she can handle the high levels of pressure as far as being a state champion, winning Penn Relays and also a little bit of experience competing internationally. Meier was the 2015 MHSAA LP Division I Michigan state champion in the shot put (46 feet, 2 inches) and the state runner-up in discus (133 feet).
Asst. Coach John Newell on Meier: "Emily is going to be a multi-event threat in the SEC. She has had the biggest amount of success in the shot put, winning the Michigan state meet as a junior. She has the ability to throw at an SEC level in more than one event her first year."
Matthew Moore

Matthew Moore | Union Grove HS

Asst. Coach Tim Hall on Moore: "Matt is going bring a presence in the hurdle event. That was one of our main areas we wanted to focus on in terms of being competitive within the SEC. He will be a tremendous addition within that event, hopefully to challenge some of the things that Aries Merritt, a school record-holder, has put in place. He is ready and willing to face to challenges."

We are thrilled for him to continue the success within this event area in our program. Tristan is a true scholar of the event, a great student and all-around athlete. We are excited to see all that he brings to the table."

Asst. Coach Berry Shumpert on Turner: "Domonique is one of the best all-around athletes in the state of Florida. I think she will be able to come in and be a tremendous asset for us in the high jump. Tennessee has not had a female high jumper in quite some time, so she will be breath of fresh air in the event and she will also be able to help us out tremendously in the hurdles."
Asst. Coach Tim Hall on Turner: "Domonique is one of the top high school hurdlers returning this year as a senior. I think she will provide a tremendous presence in the event within the SEC. We have not had a hurdler compete at SECs in a while, so I think she will bring a dynamic that is unique and provide a great presence in that event for us."
