KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee honored and celebrated its student-athletes and their accomplishments on Wednesday as part of National Student-Athlete Day.
Student-athletes had the opportunity to participate in games and contests throughout the day and enjoyed special breakfast and lunch menus at Smokey's Sports Grill in the Anderson Training Center.
"National Student-Athlete Day honors student-athletes for their accomplishments in academics, athletics, and for their contributions to the community," said Kayla Smith, Tennessee NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills director. "Our goal is to create a day of fun where we celebrate our student-athletes for the many great things they do every day."
Lunch featured another treat, the first-ever ice cream sundae bar served in Smokey's.

Created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports in 1987, National Student-Athlete Day is celebrated annually on April 6th. National Student-Athlete Day was designed to honor the outstanding achievements of high school and college student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics, while having made significant contributions to their schools and communities.
Earlier in the week, the Vols kicked off Student-Athlete Appreciation Week with a movie night for kids in the community at Smokey's.
"This was a great opportunity for kids in the community to get out and interact with us," said baseball's Quint Robinson. "It's also a good opportunity for us to get to see some of thee kids. It makes us appreciate what we have here because they look up to us."
All day, Tennessee highlighted some of the best stories on its student-athletes over the past year. Check out each of the features highlighted:
