Strobach Leads Peru At World Amateur Team Championship

RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico -- Tennessee sophomore Felipe Strobach tied for 38th individually after the third round of the World Amateur Team Championship at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club on Friday.
The Lima, Peru native opened with an even par round and shot a low 70 on the second day. Strobach posted 71 in the third round and totaled for 2-under 213 in the event.
Strobach is one of three golfers selected to represent Peru for the tournament. The trio is composed of Luis Fernando Barco and Julian Perico with Strobach leading the team.
On the course, Strobach is tied for 38th individually followed by Barco who is tied for 50th and Percio who is tied for 118th.
Together, Team Peru carded 4-under 426 and tied for 23rd at the conclusion of the third round.
The final round of the WATC will resume on Saturday, Sept. 24.
At the event, teams are composed of two or three golfers who partake in 18-holes of stroke play each day for four rounds. After each round, the two lowest scores are combined to create the team score. The team with the lowest overall score at the conclusion of the event will take the title.
Winners of the WATC will be awarded with the 30th Eisenhower Trophy named after President Eisenhower.
