Tennessee Hosts Rocky Top Tip-Off

KNOXVILLE, TENN. -Â Tennessee basketball hosted Rocky Top Tip-Off on Friday night, welcoming more than 3,000Â fans that turned out to catch a glimpse of this year's teams.

Rocky Top Tip-Off featured inflatable games, an autograph session, a three-point competition, a dunk contest, and appearances by Smokey, the Tennessee Spirit team and the UT Pep Band.

In the three-point contest, Vols and Lady Vols paired up to go head-to-head against other teams.  In the final round of the competition, Meme Jackson and Brad Woodson tied Jaime Nared and Lamonte Turner with 18 points each, forcing the competition to a single overtime round. Nared and Turner emerged victorious, netting nine shots to Jackson and Woodson's six.

The evening concluded with the much anticipated dunk competition. Yves Pons won the title, dunking over three seated children, and then leaping from behind the free throw line to throw down a second dunk.
Both Tennessee basketball teams will open their seasons with exhibition games against Carson Newman. The men will host the Eagles on Thurs., Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and the women will take the court Tues., Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
