Scalise Takes 2nd In European Am After Play-off

Tennessee's Lorenzo Scalise finished at 15-under after 72 holes and took second place following five play-off holes
SURREY, England -- Tennessee's Lorenzo Scalise finished in second place following 72 holes of stroke play and five-hole play-off in the 2017 European Amateur Championship at Walton Heath Golf Club.
Scalise carded a 3-under 69 in Saturday's final round to conclude stroke play at 15-under and tie for first place with England's Alfie Plant and fellow Italian Luca Cianchetti. Scalise birdied the second, sixth, eighth, 10th, 12th and 14th holes and made an eagle on the par-5 16th.
Scalise, Plant and Cianchetti played the first, second and 18th holes in the first play-off round. Scalise and Plant shot par and Cianchetti finished at 1-over.
A sudden-death play-off would break the tie between Scalise and Plant. After both made par on the par-3 first hole, Scalise made par on par-4 second hole while Plant made birdie to take the win.
The 2017 European Amateur Championship ran from June 28 through July 1. The entire 72-hole stroke-play event is took place at Walton Heath Golf Club's Old Course.
