LONDON -- Former Tennessee NCAA champion and All-American Tianna Bartoletta earned bronze in the women's long jump on Friday at the London 2017 IAAF World Championships at London Stadium.
On her sixth and final attempt, Bartoletta leaped 6.97 meters to secure the bronze medal. She entered that jump in fourth place as her fifth attempt was for 6.88 meters. Fellow American Brittney Reese took home gold with a jump of 7.02 meters and Darya Klishina, competing unattached to any country, took silver at 7.00 meters.
Bartoletta entered Friday's final with the second-best mark from Wednesday's qualification round at 6.64 meters. The Tennessee legend will also run for the United States in the women's 4x100 on Saturday.
Three VFLs have medaled at the 2017 IAAF World Championships. In addition to Bartoletta's bronze, fellow VFLs Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman earned gold and silver, respectively, in the men's 100 meters last week. Gatlin and Coleman will run in the men's 4x100 on Saturday. Earlier this week, VFL Aries Merritt took fifth place in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
